Slp Maf
Will a SLP MAF hurt performance? I ask becuse the car came with one. I need to know if I should get a Z06 MAF or leave the SLP MAF on or go back to stock. The car is a 02 SS with bolt ons. dyno @ 348/361 rear weel. Thanks

I had one and thought when I floored it at certain speeds on the highway it didn't run right. I got rid of it and thought the car worked a lot better with the stock one. That could just be my mind f#$%ing with me though

Go with stock... LS1-Edit tuning can conflict with running aftermarket MAFs too. I had the SLP MAF in my car and GAINED RWHP when I took it OUT! A stock unit will support 600HP

i understand the conflict with porting or getting a new MAF, yet i dont understand the better fact that having a larger MAF will allow for more air to get into the engine, i.e, whats the point of porting a TB when the air getting to the TB is restricted by the smaller diameter of the MAF, or am i way off with this theory?

It isn't porting the MAF, it is the fact that aftermarket MAFs are set internally to read differently to change timing. For example. After market MAF is tuned to read the car is getting more air than it actually is - the car will in turn advance timing. When you get into tuning - this causes issues becasue the car is not reading the correct MAF values... There is nothing wrong with ported MAF ends etc. I removed my screen for more air, even though most people do not recommend it. When I added a ported TB to my stock MAF set up - there was an instant difference!

I have the same problem. If I were to do back to back Dyno Runs, one with the SLP and then one with the Stock MAF, would that be a good test? Or does my car have to drive around for a bit to learn the new MAF when I switch it?
