Wax doesn't like heat.

I agree, the wax wouldn't last long under the conditions headers would subject them too...you could ceramic coat them or paint them with some type of high heat paint...Eastwood just came out with a powder coating desinged for manifolds/headers good to 1000 degrees...

If you waxed them the wax would burn off the first time you drove the car and would probably smell like total *** in the process. You can get them jet-hot coated or something if you're worried about protecting them. Exhausts can get surface rust on the outside and not effect their functionality though.

I use Mothers Mag Wheel Polish. The doc that came from the coating company that coated the headers suggested this. I do this about once a year (do y-pipe, collectors and as much of the header primary tubes as I can). This does nothing to protect them but keeps them looking good and assists in removing stains and such. Have had the FLPs for 3 years and they still look good.

Mother's NeverDull wadding polish also works wonders on getting off the surface rust that coated headers get. I polish mine every oil change and they look close to brand new after 2 years. Jet Hot's BTW.
