Do not descreen your MAF, it will cause more harm than good.

Nope i dissagree, I'm descreened to shoot dry and no effect with tuning. But why descreen if not needed?
For dry N2O=>YES (you have to tune anyways)
For N/A, nope

it is not the screen but the porting with your mAF if you have any issues.

I descreen mine years ago with no issues, Don't think I gained anything either. But I did try ported end & it screwed everything up. You would think I learned my lesson, I just installed an ZO6 85mm maf with the table & now I need to do a complete retune (way rich 12.0)

You can use a ported MAF with a vacuum modulated A4 with no problems.
On stock pcm controled you'll have to apply some tuning

Don't descreen your MAF - you stand to lose more than gain. Lose streetability, smoothness and fuel consumption against a MAYBE of gaining 2HP. If you are that concerned about the MAF as a restriction or dry shooting, remove it and go MAFlessand put it back in after you have had your fun.

just leave it alone...you gain nothing...you will gain more by a 10 degree drop in weather than you will in descreening the maf...you only risk danger to the engine...is $4,000 worth 1hp

I've heear from many people that porting is bad but decreening is okay. When I bought my car it had a descreened MAF and I bought a brand new factory one. The power you gain is so minimal I'd rather have an untouched MAF in my car. Plus, the screen is there for a reason...you don't want debris in your MAF. But if you must take it out I've heard it wont screw up the tranny, just don't port it.

True, but there is no reason why we "must mod our cars" either LOL. More/faster air maybe? The filter (which I always leave in) blocks enough airflow as it is, why slow it down more with a screen?

The screen actually straightens out the air flow so the MAF can make more accurate measurements.

I suggest leaving it in.
