header install...reuse stock exhaust gasket??

Default header install...reuse stock exhaust gasket??

can I just reuse the existing stock metal gaskets on my header install...
cant seem to remeber....and I havent had time to go buy a new gasket...and would lik to do my install sunday afternoon

Autozone is open on Sunday isn't it? I would take a chance on reusing the old on, how long has it been on there?

i reused mine, and they dont leak. the car had about 65000 miles when i did it. i have had to go back and tighten a few of the bolts again, but thats normal if you dont have (or are too cheap) to buy locking header bolts.

I reused mine. I've done it on 2 different header installs now with no troubles. Just take a look at the OE ones before you install everything to make sure they look OK.

If its still in good shape you can definitly reuse them.

If your going from your stock manifolds to headers, I would use new one's! If your putting on the same headers with the same gaskets and there in good shape, you MAY be ok using the used gaskets.

i reused the stock gaskets on 2 installs, one with 125k miles. whatever you do use metal gaskets, and throw the paper gaskets away! -Jim

Reuse them. Just about everybody on the board has and recommends reusing them. They are metal and should have no problem lasting.

Yep I reused mine when I did my header install on the pewter car, it had 16,000 miles on it at the time. No problems whatsoever.
