Default They installed 2 1/4 cut-out in my I-pipe!!

I was changing my oil and got a closer look at my cut-out and saw that the diameter of the cut-out is ALOT smaller than the i-pipe. I asked the exhaust shop for the 3 inch Flowtech. I measured the diameter of the cut-out and it is 2 1/4. Each end is welded inside the i-pipe. So my ? is.....Am I not getting the full potential of the cut-out because it is choked down to 21/4 inside the i-pipe?

No, you aren't. Even though it's open, you are still trying to push air out of a smaller opening. I lost 85 rwhp with a bad muffler!

So I should swap it out with a 3 inch like I wanted in the first place. Anyone?

Is it worth it to spend the extra cash for the 3 inch. IF THEY DON"T REPLACE THIS ONE FOR FREE.

if they dont replace it for free i would take my money (and car) somewhere else. As for performance, I'm not sure exactly how much the smaller cut out is hurting you. I dont know how much exhaust goes through the rest of the exhaust and how much comes out the cut out in the case of a 3". Or in the case of a 2.25". My guess is that it would take the path of least restriction so.. anyway, your 2.25" is still helping some because its keeping the exhaust (or most of it) from having to go through the rest of the exhaust system. But if the whole cutout (straight section) is 2.25" then yeah, its hurting you all the way around

I hate dishonest shops! The same thing almost happened to me. The muffler shop only had a 2.5" and tried to convince me that it was better! I ended up buying a used 3" Flowtech from someone on this board. Then replaced that with a Street Pro electric later on. I still have my 3" Flowtech if you are interested. It's used and you would have to grind the old welds off the ends. $15 plus shipping.
