I know that with the FTRA they tell you to block off the front of the air box but I would keep it open since you have the SS hood. This would allow much more air to come in. It may not be as cold of air but the volume should make up for that. You could even get some type of material like Dynamat Xtreme and insulate the underside of the hood to keep the SSRA cool since the engine heat doesn't help them too much.

The SSRA has the scoop that gets attached to your front bumper, the FTRA does not. The FTRA is made out of steel I believe, and the SSRA is plastic. HP wise its the same, nothing that much different from the two. FTRA you dont have to worry about hitting it on curbs or scaping it though. I would just go to their websites and look them both over and go with what sounded the best to me.

Guess I misunderstood the SSRA. My bad. Never heard of it until now. Are these ram air kits even worth the $$ you have to spend on them? I would think that if I'm gonna spend a couple of hundred, I might as well throw in another hundred and get a LS6 intake.

The LS6 intake will give you more plenum volume for mot high RPM HP, but will do nothing to help you bring in cooler air.

I'm a fan of the SSRA since I have one, but I'm sure the FTRA is good too. I would get one before I got the LS6 intake. But you'll definitely notice an improvement if you decide to do them both at the same time!

Default Ftra

As mentioned, the two kits are similiar but the FTRA is made of T304 stainless steel while the SSRA is made of plastic. The FTRA is very steathly when installed while the SSRA is obvious as it places a plastic duct right under your bumper.

The FTRA has been tested and proven many times over. Check out www.installuniversity.com for an unbiased test. The nice thing about the kit is that it not only gives you better performance, it usually gives you 5-7 % improvement in fuel economy so the kit will pay for itself!

Mention this thread and we will give you free shipping (within the continental US or Canada) this week!
