dealer replaced water pump now my 160 stat won't fit

dealer replaced water pump now my 160 stat won't fit The 160 stat is to large to fit into the new pump. The dealer must have used a different model pump. The opening to fit the thermostat is much smaller than the stock one. Did Gm make different water pumps for ls1's. Did I get a LS6 water pump if there opening is a different size?

GM udated all their pumps to the 04+ design. you will need to get a t-stat for a 04+. http://www.vincihighperformance.com/...TS%20PAGE.HTML about midway down on the left. NEW! 170 DEGREE WARM WEATHER & HIGH PERFORMANCE THERMOSTAT

HOUSING. BEWARE! THE PREVIOUS THERMOS WILL NOT FIT THE 04!
MANY OF THE 97-03 REPLACEMENT WATER PUMPS NOW REQUIRE THE 2004 THERMOSTAT!
$89.00 it's a t-stat and housing as well.
