K&N makes pretty much any style open filter possible. Go to a parts store and ask for the k&n catalog, there's about 2 dozen pages worth of different configurations. You could probably get the same thing on their website.?.

I prefer S&B filters over K&N in terms of quality

for upto 500bhp its hard to beat the performance of a stock paper type filter.

Many companies offer universal cone/oval/round/tube filters of varying sizes, such as

Green filter
Holley
K&N
Pipercross
RamAir

and so on.

The cotton weave filters (k&n...) are usually a lot of money, and require a lot of looking after which is also expensive. These filters generally flow slightly better than paper ones (but as I already said, OEM paper filters can handle air flow to support 500bhp n/a engines).

Foam filters (Pipercross) are usually cheaper and may not filter as well. Due to the lack of filtering they can produce the best air flow. How important is filtering to you?

Remember the primary purpose of an air filter is to 'filter' the intake air.

Persoanlly I think the best filter type out there it the sythetic weave as used by Donaldson (they make the blackwing fot the C5 Vette). It will filter better than cotton or foam and be more durable than paper. Also it does not require oiling like the K&N's.

if you have the dosh, by a blackwing filter and fab up an intake tract using silicon tubing.

yeah but how much will it cost??

Ridiculas purchase price, plus it will need cleaning more often than a paper one needs replacing.

And you can buy OEM paper filters cheaper than the K&N cleaning kit.

So the question is, why spend hugh amounts more money for a filter that will cost more money to maintain, doesn't filter as well, produces very little bhp gain and can cause issues with the MAF when oiled?

Bang per buck a K&N (or most after market filters) has to be one of the lowest out there.

thanks for te replies. I need for the Mass-air and filter to be in one combined unit because there is only so much room between that and the radiator. who makes either a pipe or some tubing i could use to mount the two?
