Installing tsp catted y pipe please help asap
Well I installed my pacesetter headers today and they went in very easily. My first problem is installing this pos y pipe. I had to get a pipe expander to expand every connection. Now the y pipe is not lining up with my I pipe. I would have to cut like 4-6 inches off my I pipe and get a 3" X 2 3/4" reducer to fit the pipe in right. I thought this system was to fit stock catback systems? Also there is a bracket that I had to take off behind the crossmember and it doesn't look like I will be able to install it after I am done. Any one else have or had this problem. Please help.....

No cutting at all. Fit in just fine. I also removed the one brace that went over the stock y pipe, if thats what you are talking about. Do you have any pics maybe? This should be fitting? I dont see why its not. Did you try giving TSP a call? they helped me out a lot when I ran into a problem.

have you tried calling tsp? I don't know if they're open on sundays though....did you make sure you had all of the parts? I'm under the impression that its supposed to bolt right up pretty much, but I think because you extended it to fit...the otehr side where the y meets the i...doesn't fit because of that...i'm not really sure thouh..seems like you messed it up when you expanded the pipes and now its longer than supposed to be.

We did 2 of these on my Z28 and a friends Trans Am. We had to cut about 3 inches off the end of the Y pipe and use a small die grinder on the inside of the catback pipe. Then we greased the end of the catback pipe up with some wheel bearing grease and hammered from both ends. This was the biggest pain of the whole install but it does go in. The Tranny had the stock WS6 catback and I have the LM and we had to trim the back of the Y for both. Would not fit without doing it.

I ended up cutting my I pipe and used another piece of pipe to merge the two. I also left my bracket off behind the trans crossmember. Wow what a difference in performace. Runs great.
