Default true duals, exhaust ? using a spohn body mount t-arm

i have a spohn body mounted torque arm and absolutly love it. i have hooker LT's and Y, now the Y has a Moroso Spiral flow muffler on the end of it. it sounds great, not raspy at all. i talked to Brian @ TSP about their TD's and he said that i would have clearance problems with the t/arm. the car is a 99 SS, not lowered. i have a TSP MSv3 cam, and a NX direct port kit also. so i know TD's wouldn't be to much for it. its mostly street driven probably 2-3 times a week. other than that its all racing. i was wandering if anyone on here has this combo and could help with some pics of clearance and opinions.

on a slightly different note, i am building a 408. i have had the thought of selling my hookers and getting some kooks 1 7/8" stainless headers. does anyone think they will be benificial/worth the extra money?

thanks, Jeff

Lots of questions in one post.
I have built alot of dual set up. I dont think its possible to do them in 3 inch, with the spohn in the way.

On your header question. Im getting ready to install kooks on my car, and remove pacesetters. Ill see what it gains. I expect 10-20rwhp(dyno is forthcoming), you would likely see the same with a large cam 408.

Just messing with you:

Its really tough to do. The crossbrace gets right in the way and you can't really tuck it up in the tunnel like most places do. You might be able to fit bassani duals in there but I doubt it. There's a pic out there where lane just went around the driver's side of the torque arm with the pipe.

Just call me Mr. Nice Guy.

Here you go. Im not sure who's car this is but it looks nice. If it were mine I would try a different muffler configuration. Something like the rear section of the gmmg but with spiral flow mufflers.

There is no off-the-shelf X pipe setup that will work with the TA. You will probably have to get an exhaust shop to make the duals around the TA, it's been done.

It's very much possible Dave, you just have to know what you're doing. I have them on my car, and it was built around the Spohn torque arm. The pics posted above are of my car. I've since switched to the BMR extreme duty crossmember for traction purposes and have even MORE clearance.

The exhaust is a 3" true dual system all the way back, has an SRP x-pipe, and Moroso Spiral Flow mufflers. I've installed tips since those pics were taken as well. I'll try to get those up later. The exhaust was fabbed by Tracey Scott of Scott Racing & Performance in Blue Ash, Ohio.

Thanks man. The cost, you would have to talk to Tracey as it varies by application and the parts used. Shoot me a PM on here and I'll give you contact information, or over at www.nkyfba.com my username is Nskaats. Northern Kentucky F-body association is our local F-body site. SRP does give discounts to NKYFBA members.

SRP fabbed my true duals up as well. It's a 2.5" system though.
