Just about 3/4 of the people on this site have ditched their cats. You can search and find probably 100s of threads tellin about how to hollow them out or other options.
And if you are looking for a real cheap alternative to the loud mouth, find yourself a Dynomax bullet muffler, 3 inch diameter, should run ya about 30-40 bucks shipped from Jegs.
Have an exhaust shop cut off your muffler and replace it with straight pipe and then have them weld the bullet muffler into you i-pipe a bit before the axle.

Or you can do like I did for the meantime. Have them gut the cats, and put a cutout in the I-pipe. It'll be decently loud, and if you ever want it quiet, cap the cutout. $40 for a cutout, $30-40 for them to gut the cats, and you're done.

yea that'll work too, although some exhaust shops are scared to do that, but if you can find a good one that will gut your cats go for it. the cut out might give you some rasp, but its up to you.
