Default LS6 pcv questions/problems

I know this has been discussed 100000000 times before, but i couldn't find an answer to this,

Is there any draw back to doing the LS6 pcv conversion on an LS1? How effective is it really?
I already have a catch can, but i am still going through a quart or quart and a half every 3k miles. I have tried changing oils too.

I don't know if i like the idea of breathers (eliminating the pcv entirely) so tell me WHY i shouldn't do the conversion?

is all of that oil going into the catch can, you could try to put a clear line to the throttle body to see if oil is getting past the catch can. if no oil is getting past, your lossing oil elseware. But their is no real draw back to going to the ls6 setup.

You don't have to do the conversion, you can simply do this instead:
http://www.installuniversity.com/ins...l_dstevens.htm

Or here is the howto for the PCV conversion:
http://www.ls1howto.com/index.php?article=18

I haven't done either one since I haven't had an issue with oil consumption but the first one sounds like it's worth a shot, you won't need to replace the valley cover.
