Default No plate in my Borla??

So we bought this 98 firehawk, it came with a borla adjustable catback. Ive never had one of these so i had no idea how to adjust it, but at idle its not loud at all and at WOT its alittle louder but not nearly as loud as i want it. So i inspected it and found out you have to pull off the right tailpipe to get to the lil baffle plate. I brake every single bolt trying to get it off and when i finally get it there is no plate in it. This guy says he has never taken apart the muffler so i dont know what to do. I'll have the longtubes and y pipe on this weekend and i hope it opens this beast up.

Just seeing what input people have on this. I dont see why this catback would be almost a grand, i dont find it to be that special. Maybe just the name?

If you are putting on LT's and an ORY it will be loud. I just did mine 2 weeks ago and I love it. It's still pretty tame at idle and cruising (which I like) but, at WOT it's killer.

Once you put on the LT's and a off-road y-pipe it will really open up and get loud if that's what you want. I have the Hooker LT's, ORY and the Borla with the plate out. I get a lot of compliments on the sound.

Once them headers and ORY go on, you may be looking to add a plate in there to quiet it down some. I run Mac headers, ORY, and open Borla all the time with a 224 cam in it. You can hear my car several blocks away at wot. I can put the full block off plate in there and its almost quiet as stock. Cant even here the cam. Thats what seperates this catback from the others.

if you want the plates, you can orde them from borla. they run like 40 shipped and take 3-4 days.

think I may swoitch tot he 1/2 open to 3/4 open one.

Are you sure its a firehawk because technically they didnt even make an actual WU6 code firehawk for 1998. They made 6 cars that had all of the firehawk parts and said firehawk but technically werent even a production firehawk. So if in fact it IS a 1998 firehawk i say keep it stock and put it in a garage....hopefully you didnt get a fake 98 firehawk

As for the borla, with mac mids at wot its pretty nasty Hella loud. Even during light acceleration or during the 2-2.5k roll bys its still a nice sound. And the growl when down shifting and engine braking...

I cant wait to get the LT's and cam and junk put in.. Though I will be switching to the 1/2 plate then..
