Worst nightmare come true - Pacesetter LTs
My Pacesetter LTs got here a couple of days ago, and today I finally had some time to put them on. I've settled for those headers after reading alot of posts about how they are best bang for the buck, good fit & finish & no clearance issues. Well, I don't know if it just my luck or what - but, I've been proven otherwise.
So, went into the shop - removed everything needed to be removed to get to the headers. Took the stockers down, started putting the LTs in & that is when it struck me ----Pacesetters would not fit!!! Could not even work them up into place. But I remembered reading about having to notch the K-Member & I proceded to do so... After some notching I was finally able to slide them up, but that is when I found out something even worse. Top of the headers would not go flush against the block. Upper part would be open still & the only thing I could do is to trim on the side (right across from the oil filter). Did that,... about 2" later (which I most def should not have done) I could finally line them up on the top. ANd then... I have come to realize that the freaking O2 sensor bung is ON THE TOP!!!!!!! And there is no way that o2 sensor could be fitted in between the collector and the bottom of the car.. .
So, to sum it up... 8 hours or hard fu*&* labor wasted, Fu&*ed up K-member, and back to stock (I did replace the spark plugs though). Because headers were not bent enough on the top, and whoever was welding on the collector did not pay attention to which way the o2 sensor is facing.
And here is a pic of the headers

hmm... sorry to hear that. I put Pacesetters on my '99 "the Smurf" maybe 1.5 or 2 years ago. Was not a real hard install. Just had to loosen the motormounts and raise the engine about an inch. Some people say even that is not necessary, but it was in my case.
My problem is the damn Pacesetter off-road Y-pipe. I can't get that fugger to stop banging when I let the clutch in. However, the headers have been fine. I even still have EGR and AIR.

without pics I wouldnt have believed it
those headers are all wrong and are NOT typical of Pacesetters
Pacesetter headers ARE the best bang for buck and install easier than any of the heade
air hookup missing from both headers
o2 bung on top of one header (should be to inside)
o2 bung on outside of one header (should be to inside)
I swear, its almost like a practical joke those headers are so messed up.

It's a sabotage !!!! The guy that welded them probably worked for FORD !
That sucks...TSP will take care of you, and will sent you the right stuff. Take 2 weeks off...cool down emotionaly and re-attempt the header swap....you'll be happy again ! I promise !

lol i don't think pacesetter messed anything up. i bet you texas speed did and sent you headers for a different car. i bet they sent you LT1 headers or something. check to see if there is a model # anywhere on the inside or outside of the headers. i bet you have the part number for a different car
maybe someone at the warehouse was drinking

i'm telling you man, they weren't pacesetter's fault, it was TSP's. they weren't assembled wrong, you just got sent the wrong headers that are made for a different car
TSP is a great company but no company is void of making mistakes i.e. putting LT1 headers in the box instead of LS1 headers

Sorry to the thread starter. This sucks for you. I guess you'll look parts over very carefully next time.
