Default Howto: Quite exhaust to pass inspection?

I have a 98 T/A and the only mod is a SLP intake & Corsa Catback exhaust. I failed the Delaware inspection by .8 db's. At first I looked at the guy like WTF but he was not having it.

I bought 4 brillo pads and did a trial test taking the car up to 2,500 RPM's and it seemed like it really helped. Is this a safe thing to do just to pass inspection?

Or is there any better ideas I could use?

Thanks so much!

The corsa catback is 50state legal ... Its been a while since I had corsa so I can't remember if there was any documentation stating that. But if you haven't messed with your cats and there is documentation from Corsa ... you should be passed, right?

I have "some" of the documentation that came with the corsa cat back. But I will give them a call and see whats up.

Any other ideas?

inline bullet muffler with flanges so you can use it for inspection and then stick the flanged straight pipe back in when you are passed .

so weird. I called Corsa and they confirmed that indeed they are 50 state legal. The first time I went through inspection it was 97.4 db's when the legal limit was 95db.

I went back today, and it was only 91db!!!!!! So, good game I win

thanks for the helpl

Just because it says it is 50 state legal, that doesn't mean that it is. Each city has their own laws on noise polution.

50 state legal refers to emissions laws only, doesn't apply to any noise regulations your state may have
