Broke the %#&@ oil sending unit off.. HELP!
Was careful taking off the old LS1 intake but time went by and I forgot to be careful putting the new LS6 intake on.. snapped the damn thing right off.
So how do I remove whats left of it from the block?? How to install a new one?? It looks like a huge sized wrench would be needed.. specialty tool?
Thanks since my project is stalled till I fix this <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Steve, no biggie man. They are cheap and easy to replace(assuming you don't have the intake on still).
Pepboys, and most other parts store sell a special "oil sending unit socket" for GM vehicles. I know Pepboys sells them in the tool section. It's about 7 bucks.
I have broken one off before myself, and didn't notice it until the car was cranked again. I fought for 3 hrs, but there was no way to remove the sensor without taking the intake back off. So, if you do have the intake on the car it needs to come off, everything else is easy. Good luck..

Did the same thing here swapping to an ls6 intake. No big deal, I think the sensor was about $70. You can use one of those 02 sensor sockets to get it off.

Don't feel bad, I did that once before too. The socket size is something like a 1 1/16" and you can get it at Autozone. The sensor is only $25 from there too.
