H pipe owners please come in
I've searched and searched and cant find anyone with pictures of H pipes, im pry retarded with the search but its just me
My car is just days away from going under the knife and im beginning to wonder if i should run the H instead of the X. Everyone says run the X itll get you more power, but those few horses arent worth sacrificing the sound im after. Ive heard that Hs sound more bassy and muscly and thats exactly what I am after
so please if you have an H post some pics and tell me what you think

h is the wayto go. you will sacrific less then 5 hp stock for sound. but you will increase low end torque witha h pipe. most people for get about that. I have a h myself and love it.

The reductions amount to a minimum of 1 dB to a maximum of 3 dB with 2 dB being common. As far as power is concerned, things are a little less certain. With engines between about 325 to 550 hp, experience indicates that in about 60 percent of the cases (mostly with balance pipes), the engine can deliver as much as 12 additional hp, with 5-8 being the most common. The other remaining 40 percent tested showed virtually no change in output either up or down. Based on such results, we can conclude that a balance or X-pipe is always a positive asset and never a negative.
Balance pipe sizing seems not to be overly critical. The only really influential dimension is the pipe diameter. This needs to have an area at least equal to that of a 2.25-inch diameter pipe (4 square inches) with 2.5 to 2.75 inches being preferable. Though limited to tests on engines up to a little fewer than 600 hp, there seems to be no measurable benefits to using a crossover pipe bigger than 2.75 inches in diameter. As for the crossover length, dyno results indicate that 18 inches responds in virtually the same manner as 72 inches long.

If sound it all that you are inestered in why use a "X" pipe or a "H" pipe at all? Why not just run the two pipes out the rear without any type of crossover? Back in the day, that is what we did (dual pipes with no X pipe nor H pipe) (no crossover of any type) and we had some sweet sounding exhaust. Why don't you it a try without any type of crossover. If you don't like the sound you can always go back and easily add an "X" or "H" pipe.

tahts what my dad has been saying (im 17 and he is 57 and grew up about 25 minutes outside of detroit during the muscle car boom) but ive heard from a few people that know more than i do and read a few that wihtout the crossover i wont get as much power, now dont get me wrong power is important to me, its just the net difference between the 5 or 10 or so lost between the X or H wont matter to me as the sound will
