Question Which plug wires?

Taylor Thundervolts were on the car when I got it, but half of them have fallen apart.

I got some MSD wires, but the boots are too long and some will lay right on the headers. I won't feel comfortable w/them on even if I added heat sleeves.

WHat do I have left to choose from?

The MSD's are going to be your best bet. That rubber that the boots are made of is some bad *** stuff, adding the stock heatshields to them will help also.

I run the LS2 plug wires, which have a 90* boot on the end. I have 1 or 2 that rub slightly, but I really like them. I got them on ebay brand new for $20.

Mine have the 180* boots & I don't have the stock shields. I'll have to pick up some heat sleeves.

The 10mm Taylor Thundervolts are crappy compared to the 8.5mm super conductors from MSD. I have a set of the 10mm Thundervolts on the Z and they are suprisingly holding up. The HOSS has the 8.5mm 5.3 truck set on it. They fit better IMO with the truck version. Same wire, just a tad longer.

MSD FTW!

They melt on some cars. Rarely though.

Well, the MSD boots ARE good... but they CANNOT lay directly on the headers or they WILL burn. Been there, done that. However, mine held up for over 3 years zip tied so they were no closer then 1/4", and no damage ever to the boot that IS just 1/4" away. I did put a piece of aluminized fiberglass heat shielding on the close one though to deflect some of the radiant heat.

I have yet to see ANY plug wire that can touch the headers safely.

I have MSD's on the car now. In the last 20K miles, ive shaken off a wire atleast 5 times. The car will miss until i push all the wires back on. Also, some of the boots just dont bend away from the header primaries, and they burn pretty easily. The MSDs are okay, but for whatever reason Ive had problems with my batch. I just bought a set of 90* LS6 wires now, so im hoping to have better luck.

Anybody ever checked the resistance on the MSD's, Taylor's, or GMPP wires?
