Default 00 LS1 to LS6 manifold swap w/ no egr

I just got an LS6 manifold today. I've been doing a lot of reading on how to install it. I want to install it myself but my car is a 2000 and I went with a non egr manifold. How much is involved on eliminating the egr system? I know i'm going to have to plug the egr tubes on the headers. What should I get to block those off with? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can make some block off plates with some metal from Lowe's and a Dremel. I had to do that because I lost my Ls1speed kit.

EGR plate from Ls1speed is 8 bucks. Bottom of the page.

I was thinking that I would make my own plates. Would I just use a gasket as a template?

You could use the gasket...the metal I used wasn't thick enough so the bolts bottomed out before it would torque the plate down. So I cut the piece that holds the EGR to the manifold off and put it on top of the plate I made and torqued it down. Sealed just fine.

I made my own block off plates too.. very easy..

dont forget to eliminate the EGR and AIR reporting in the PCM.. or have fun looking at the SES light all day.

Yeah, I already had those deleted when I had the cam installed. Did you just get some metal and fab it?

do you still have cats on your car?....i know when i switched mine i left the air pump for that purpose but taking the egr off....also remember that if you leave the 28lbs injectors you might need to tune the fuel trims, i left mine in and it ran rich, before i had them tuned....keep those valve intakes clear, and for god sake becareful with the sending unit in the back that is the biggest pain in the ***....you can cut a block off plate from a sheet of alumn. i did and just drilled it on....or u could just have the holes welded

I have high flow cats on the car. I was planning on not messing with the air pump. I'm also getting the Lucas 42# injectors monday and then I'm gonna take the car to a shop and have them tune it in. Do you think I can drive the car after I get this all done with the 42# injectors installed? I heard of that sending unit being a pain in the ***. After I take the egr off, should I put the bolts back on the head or just leave them out? Thanks for all the help guys.

hmm im not sure if your gonna be able to drive it with that high of a psi change...i know ive seen the 30 pound svo's go in and the car barely ran....umm id leave the two back bolts in....just lift them up a bit put tape around them so they dont fall back down and it makes it alot easier when u go to reinstall it or install it....just make sure all 10 bolts are torqued down to spec.....why are you going with such high injectors?

I'm getting a good deal on them and I plan on going with heads within the next year so I might as well just go big now.

The car won't run untuned for 42# injectors.

well the swap was done today. ls6 intake is on, fuel injectors on, tuned in, and the egr gone. one problem though. one of the bolts to the egr tube broke. AARRRGGGHHHH!!! yes its leaking like a siv with only one bolt holding the block off plate on.

that's gotta be a pain to get in there and weld it though. it's tight enough as it is to get a drill in there to try and drill it out then put a new bolt and nut on it.

there's a bolt through it now. it had to be drilled out but at a slight angle. it's still leaking a little bit so i'm gonna go get a new gasket or 2 and get some sealer and try to seal it up all around it. the sealer is an rtv and made for headers.
