Default How to Louden an Exhaust?

I took off a flowmaster 80 series catback off my camaro and put on an SLP loudmouth to give it some more bite. It still isn't quite what I want yet. I plan on installing SLP LT headers w/ the Y pipe and gutting my cats to give some more oomph. Will this work or will I just be wasting my money? Thanks in advance guys. This is my first post on here. I'm sorry if some of my questions sound stupid, i'm new to this.

you might end up with your car sounding like an old pick-up truck if you go that route.

Atleast tell him why you think they suck. They hang low. No performance issues.

If you really want loud, go true duals, it's hard to get a catback (y-pipe) really loud without getting alot of rasp in the process. Just my .02

pacesetter headers, jet hot and hooker headers all seem to be great for the money, the pacesetters are probably the cheapest and work amazing.

Yes it will work. And if you're going to get a catted y-pipe just to gut the cats then just get an off-road y-pipe. It's cheaper. Like others also suggested a cut-out works great as well.

1) Remove it.

2) Drive over some parking markers (see number 1)

3) Drill holes in it?

Search around and find some Long Tubes that you like, I would not recommend slp as you can get something that performs the same or better without the clearance issues for a better price. And since you already have the loudmouth, I would recommend getting a catted y pipe. Then you will have lt to catted y to slp lm, which is exactly what my roomate has and it sounds awesome. You get all the 'oophm' you want, but leaving the cats on will cut down on the rasp and the smell of gasoline. Good luck, let us know what you get. And o yea, welcome to the end all of ls1 sites.

hmm...everyone loves good sarcasm, but considering this is the op's 1st post here and he needs some actual advice, maybe you could refrain from that type of response...

Default Grassy *** Amigos

Thanks everyone! I had no idea I would get a response let alone this many...I guess that's what I'm used to from other sites. Now my plan is to get Jet headers but I can't decide whether to get a catted Y or an ORY. I'm only 18 and I can feel the grays coming! Yikes...
