Will 'Bullets' quiet my car down????
I will be getting Mac headers w/ offroad pipe soon. That will lead to a stock exhaust, just with a cut-out. I want to keep the car as quiet as possible. What is the best way to do this, while still maintaining great flow? Of course when I am at the track and the cut-out is open, loud is fine. But in street trim I want great slealthyness. What are 'bullets'? They are some sort of resonator? Dumb question, but I am just not familiar with them. Would they keep the car very docile sounding on the street? Thanks!

Yes, they are resonators and make excellent replacements for cats or can be used in single fashion in the intermediate pipe (my preferred method.) They will help to tame your exhaust without restricting flow.

Most have had the best luck with twin bullets placed in the y-pipe, one on either side, rather than a single, larger one in the intermediate pipe. Good luck! <img src="images/icons/cool.gif" border="0">

Colonel - are you saying that the resonator that came with my Loudmouth is the same as what i'd buy from Dynomax or Borla XR1? Or am I slightly confused about "resonators?" I know on my LM it's just a larger pipe thats 16" long with NOTHING inside it.

I don't know what comes with a LM.
The two resonators that I've dealt with (the SLP and the Dynomax bullet) are NOT just an open big pipe. To look closely inside and you would see that there are are two layers, the inside of which has many holes leading access to the packing that is in between it and the outer shell. Somewhat similar to a glasspack.
