Not much if any those cats should flow well enough to keep from choking the system to any extent.

another "how much hp will i lose by adding cats" thread there's only like, what, ten thousand of these? ugh.

you won't lose much. your best bet is to take the ORY that you have now and weld in magnaflow metal brick cats in. you may lose 1-3 horsepower with them, they flow so well, and i hear they have nearly NO effect on sound loudness, but they still get rid of the rasp and help your tone.

don't get the TSP ORY. get the cats and weld in your own. the magnaflows are bullet cats barely an inch or two thicker than the actual pipe. no use for the big clunky cats (by comparison) on the TSP y-pipe.

I lost about 14RWHP with cats on my 385. That said I still went almost 128mph in the quarter at ~3650 plus pounds raceweight through cats with the six speed, full interior etc

I'd run them to prevent the stench/rasp. Plus it's pretty cool to go fast with cats on the car imo

Iirc there was a thread in the internal section several months ago where at a power level of ~450 rwhp cats only cost 10 rwhp. Sorry I don't have a link.

they're different. the cats on the TSP y-pipe are the cheap magnaflows. they're the big, bulky ceramic core ones. the ones i'm talking about are their more "top of the line". they're more expensive. they run something like $85 a cat and have a spun metallic core instead of a ceramic core. the metallic cores flow much better than the ceramic, and the metallics are bullet cats so they're hardly any bigger than the actual pipe.

with the metallic core cats you'd be looking at 5rwhp or less loss i would guess. with the ceramics you're getting, it's more like a 10rwhp-15rwhp loss.

I plan on putting cats on my ride, right now I have Mac-Mids w/ ORY and Hooker Cat-back, I plan on getting some Long-tubes and catted Y. Would you guess this to be around the same HP? Will it lower the nasty exhaust smell? I just hate stop and go traffic and smelling bad when I get out of my car. Am I just stupid? =D
