Default Anyone use the K&N FIPK?

My friend is selling his car and will give me his K&N for my Lid and base. Anybody use one of these? Is it worth it or should I just keep my lid? Any comments or opinions welcome.

Keep your lid. FIPK sucks hot air from the engine bay= not good.

unless you race your car competitively or autocross or drag less religiously, it honestly makes no difference. it works fine for me

I've had the FIPK for 4 years and love. Great throttle response and looks killer too.

Thats what I was worried about, I'll just keep my lid then. The volant CAI looks awesome, I want that after I take care of some more important things. Thanks for the feed back guys.

Any intake is going to suck hot air at idle. I don't know about you guys, but I don't race at idle. I've done several tests using different intakes and while the car is in motion, cooler air is going to get to the intake no matter which intake you use. Go with whatever you think looks better, like I did. I've had the FIPK since 2002 with no issues.

Performance wise the lid and FIPK are equals...but the FIPK does look better

think about this then. the K&N sucks in hot air at idle, but what about waiting in staging lanes and such?

you dont want it tob e already saturated with hot air do you?

So you don't think a lid sucks hot air at idle? What about the FRA? You're telling me that while at idle, heat doesn't rise from the radiator into the intake? I tested the IATs while at idle with my FIPK and with another type of intake. It doesn't matter what I used, they all warmed up at idle and got cooler as I started moving forward.

Do any of you guys have evidence the FIPK is slower at the track?

I have the FIPK and love it as well. It definitely beats having a stock lid. How much is he going to sell it to you for?

if your lid is stock than yes do it. if you have an aftermarket lid then its up to what you think looks better.

consider this then. with a lid you can have a CAI kit and even seal the lid to your hood if you got a ram air style hood. you cant do that with the K&N

He is selling the car so he will trade me. I'm trying to find the base for the lid so that i can give him my stock lid for his K&N. Anyone know where I can get the base (the big plastic peice the lid sits on), either stock or the bigger WS6 style one?
