Dynomax Ultra Flo X muffler=crap?
Working on an exhaust project for my truck and decided on the Ultra Flo X muffler from Dynomax. I bought the 3 inch version from Summit and took the following pics of the obstructions in the pipes. These obstructions are in 2 of the 4 pipes before the x, so one will be right in the path of the exhaust. No way around it. It's pitiful a $130 muffler can't be cleaned up a little better than this.

You mean from this thread? https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...ghlight=h-pipe
I was wondering what muffler is in the 2nd picture on the system in that thread. I wouldn't think it was the Ultra Flo since it shows the inlet pipes on both sides of the muffler. Anybody know what muffler this is?

Wow, Nice save HavATampa,
I was this close to buying one of those mufflers sight unseen just from the description on their website.
Trying to setup a dual over the axle setup.
Thank god I didn't buy one of those things.
I'd imagine you could find a dual in dual out tho, that would work clean if you go over each side.
You'd just have to jump the pipe on one side, which the stocker does clean enough.

I understood what muffler you meant. I think that first pic is the same as what I posted. I'm looking for a big muffler like the 2nd pic posted that has an inlet on both sides for duals over the axle and outlets on both sides for the tailpipe like BigJohn is describing. My duals do go over each side of the rearend.

I'm interested to see how this ends up.
I've conscripted a guy (not a shop cause shops always send you packing when you show them the drivers side) to do an over the axle job on mine and I'm debating how to do the mufflers.
That X-series from Dynomax is out now, so it may be down to a couple of bullets since theres not much room under the camaro bumpers.
I still think it can be elegantly done with something like these though.
Hava, besides these dynomax junkers, what muffs are on the table for you?
Are there any other ones you've nixed for various reasons?

That Super 40 dual/dual was my first choice but won't work in my situation since both inlets are one side of the muffler. I would have to do some pipe routing to one side or the other like in the pics above but would rather not. Seems like the only option for a muffler with the right inlets is a dual/dual Magnaflow, which I don't want. Flo-Pro sells a dual/dual with the right inlets, but they are only 2 1/4" http://www.flopro.com/FPovalsmall.htm .
If you are planning your exhaust, running both pipes down the passenger side gives you more big muffler options if you want to go that route. I'm now toying with idea of 2 Super 40 single in/single out mufflers under the gas tank. Something like the pic below but with the pipes exiting on each side of the bumper in the stock locations for a T/A.
