Question Largest TB on LS6 Intake Manifold?

Hello. I have two questions. Let me start out by saying the search function was not working...

1.) What is the stock TB size on 01 SS camaros?
2.) What's the largest TB I should put on the stock ls6 intake manifold?

Damn wrong forum. Thanks ace. Why wouldn't you want to go larger?

Cost issue mainly, a ported stock TB is a tried and true mod, now if you needed to go bigger then you are going to probbly jump up to a 90/90 combo.

Or if you are going fully insane something custom made.

What exactly are you looking to use this on? You might be fine with just getting your TB ported with an ls6 mani.

Yeah, stock ported. A fewe companies have 80 mm offerings but youre probably better off just porting the stocker, as the intake will limit you past that anyway.

Thats what I thought. I'll just hold off till I get the 90/90 combo.

All LS1 TBs are the same diameter, however the TB cam profile is a little different between the 97-99 and 2000+.

some of the TB's nexk down to 75mm behind the blade...its alot smaller than the initial opening. I guess thats the difference with the years. Oh or you can get (hard to find though) a cable driven throttle body off a LQ4/LQ9 truck with a 6.0 motor. They have the same style throttle bodies BUT they're measured 80mm. I have yet to find one yet but im stilll looking, i got that info in my How to build high performance Chevy LS1/LS6 V8's - Will Handzel - Cartech book. Hope this helps some

The LS1 TB is 75mm, not 78mm. Go LS6 intake/ported TB or a 90/90 setup, no in between.
