Default H/C swap complete - Loud as Holy Hell

Just finished up a H/C swap on my 2000 T/A and am wondering on ways to quiet it down.

With the new Ontario laws on Streetracing and modifying and all that BS the less attention I draw to the car the better, especially with **** neighbors who will call the cops. As it stands now it is ungodly loud even at idle.

I am running PaceSetters with an ORY and MagnaFlow cat-back. No cats or resonators.

I have not taken a good look under the car, but I am thinking of adding a Magnaflow resonator and a cutout before the resonator ... that way when I take it to the track I can run straight thru and on the streets it will be quieter.

Opinions / comments / ideas?

two magnaflow metal core cats will pull out the rasp but won't cut the volume a whole lot. Get a bigger muffler like stock or somthing and just run a cutout in front of it.

I had that cam in my old car, you can get MUCH louder, lol.
All I can think of is adding a muffler with an electric cutout in front of it. Basically what you said

How about a single HighFlow Cat instead of a resonator?

Any ground clearance issues?

Mine is very quiet. I use t-bolts cats and SLP DD cat back. Perfect way not to attrack cops attention. When the cutout is open though, its is very loud.

While I am in agreement .... and the sound of my car gives me wood while making the two bubbly blonde bimbo sorority ***** with delicious double D's next door wet ...

Its just to bait.

I am going to drive it around this week and see if it quiets down after the tune.

If not, Im spending money on making my car quieter ... Id thought Id never see the day ...

Are you running headers and an aftermarket Y-pipe as well?

I just finished my head/cam swap yesterday and my car too is just way too loud. I have qtp's, a CATTED Y, and gmmg exhaust. The cats are not going to do too much for the noise let me tell you. I've heard of a lot of people putting some bullet style mufflers in the I pipe, I think thats what I'm going to have to do as well It does sound like sex though.

i have LT's with ORY and hooker catback, its not loud at all at idle, and cruising its not bad until i start going over 2500 rpms, then it starts getting throaty. I just put an e-cutout in the I when i wanna be obnoxious for the cruise nice and such. i didnt think the mangnaflow was all that loud? maybe its cause you have a heads and cam setup tho.

When I did H/C, my car was LOUD AS **** without a tune(dumping too much fuel). It got quieter after the tune but as far as your situation goes, I'd look into selling your magnaflow catback and picking up an SLP DD catback and then just throw a cutout in your I-pipe. The DD catback flows great and has a great mellow sound to it. Very throaty but mellow, until WOT (with ORY and LTs)

I agree. One of the best tones for a catback (if not the best) and quiet.

Wow...I had the complete opposite result. My engine is a 99 with the mods in my sig...basically a head/cam car. The cam is more mild from what I understand...

But anyway, Im running stainless LTs, a custom ORY, and magnaflow catback. Which actually starts at the axle now since the custom y-pipe. Under 2500 - 3000 rpms its pretty quiet. Like when I first start it in the morning i never worry about it waking anyone up. The initial surge when it first fires is kind of loud but that only lasts a split second.

I have a cut out as well, and when I drive with the cut out open for like 5 minutes, then shut it up, my magnaflow sounds like a stock muffler. haha.
