Default Radiator service

I had my 99 trans am with 70k miles in for a oil change, while it was there they told me i needed a Radiator service BAD! they said this cost 70 dollars, will not getting this done soon hurt performance? IS 70 a reasonable price? thanx all.

You should have your coolant changed every 5 years, after a while the coolant will start to get a small elec charge from the ionization of the metal and coolant. I would do it yourself. Just dispose of the coolant properly.

Do it yourself. Most people just drain and run water through it with a hose. I took a couple of extra steps and drained it, put some radiator treatment in, drained again, and refilled with dexacool. I don't think I'll let it go for more than a couple of years before I do it again. Some have experience problems with Dexacool but if done every 2 years or so, you won't have any. It'll only cost you about $5 for the radiator treatment and about $5-10 depending on what coolant you use.
