How To Quiet Down My Exhaust?
Hey guys,
I haven't updated my profile, but I have a hooker exhaust on my car at the moment, but my car is still a little too loud late at night. I was reading up on exhaust tips that are insulated for noise reduction, OR are there any mufflers like those on the Zo6 that are quiet and open up at WOT?
Thanks

Easiest and cheapest way would be to have a bullet-style muffler welded in the I pipe just before the axle.
Dynomax, magnaflow, and borla all make a bullet muffler thats approx 4in and will fit nicely without hurting groud clerance too much.
Dynomax:

Magnaflow:

Borla:

The borla will be the tightest fit. The Magnaflow from what i've read will be most quiet of the 3.
Edit: posted the wrong link to the magnaflow. Its right now.

I have the magnaflow on order. My dynomax ultraflo cat back is a little louder than I want, and as some rasp i want to get rid of. I'll have a vid of it by this weekend.

I've got AR LT's, catted Y & GMMG, and I just had a Magnaflow installed in the Y. The best way I can describe the sound is closer to that of the original manifolds with the GMMG, but a little louder and faster revving. I think it would be perfect with a cam.

Man ... five years ago I bought my car and dropped an SLP LM on it within a few weeks. I'd never been happier, setting off car alarms everywhere I went.
Then I got my LTs and cam. To say that a LM is a little overkill with LTs is like saying getting hit by a dump truck might sting a little.
So the LM went and I've been through probably three other exhaust set-ups. I do a lot of in town driving in traffic so it's just not that appealing anymore. I also have forged pistons which make it sound like a supercharged sewing machine.
It's all become a little much for me. Maybe I'm getting old, or maybe it's getting old. Either way ...

My opinion now is that it doesnt have to be loud to sound good. I want a low deep rumble. I dont want it stock quiet, but nothing like the LM or a 1 chamber flow (had the 1 chamber, it was as loud as the LM1)

Well I'm 40. Still into modding my car but not into the obnoxiously loud exhaust all the time as much as I was 20 years ago. I want it to sound deep and aggressive. And I don't want to get run out of the nice neighborhood I'm about to move into.
