What would this sound like? Serious question
I have a 01 M6 Z-28, it's completely stock other than a blackwing lid and bellow. I just ordered a SLP loudmouth catback for the car but was thinking about cutting the muffler off just to see what it sounded like. The car has the stock cats and Y-pipe so I don't think it would be TOO loud or would it? Would it sound like ****? I thought it may sound kinda raspy and mean until my catback gets here. Just wanted to get some honest opinions. Thanks

I ran my car for a few days with factory manifolds and cats only not even a y pipe until i got my LT's and true duals on. The car wasn't insanely loud but it didn't sound good at all. It kinda sounded like an old farm truck.

I cut it off anyway, doesn't sound too bad but it does drone while cruising down the road. I've got the center exhaust kit from SLP which is why I went with the LM1 catback. I'll be running two Dynatech Powercats with a custom ORY and Pacesetter LT's. Should sound pretty good. I'm not a big fan of extremely loud obnoxious exhaust, just a noticeable aggressive tone. I guess I can put up with this until next week.

half of you guys have prob never done this to a car. when i got my LS! i didnt have the money for a catback, so i just cut the muffler off and reworked the tailpipes, and it DID sound good. i never had one negative thing said and only positive comments about how it sounded. so, yea...it does soun good bc i ran my car like this for a year and a half.
