Default NGK Tr-5 = NGK Tr-55???

Went to autozone today and asked for the NGK tr-55's everyone suggested I get, and the guy gave me NGK tr-5's claiming they are the same, I don't agree, but I figured someone on here will know for sure, are tr-5's the same as tr-55's

I'm not sure the difference...but there is definitely both kinds... I always get the TR-55 from Napa.

Here is a thread on this:

NGK TR 5 or TR 55's?

From my understanding the only difference is the heat range, so no they aren't the same.

the reach of the tr5 is longer and it has a gasket you have to use the tr5 with dart heads and they come gapped .039 instead of .06 you need stock

I was not aware that a gasket style plug was needed for dart heads. (not saying your wrong, I never thought of that) Is this correct? If so I guess I've been running the wrong plugs. I've kept tr55 in mine. I never looked at the heads to see if they were angle sealed or washer.

They say the newer darts can run either but i believe they where originally made for gasket style and a 3/4 plug so you can have a wider variety of plug to pick and choose your heat ranges... im still trying to fig out what i want to run in my darts lol
