2002 Camaro CRACKED FLYWHEEL question.
Hello Again,
I just stopped by the tranny shop where I'm getting a new rear main seal only to be informed my flywheel is cracked. they shoed me the flywheel and the crack starts on the outside of the flywheel and comes in about 1 inch toward the center.
Its not big, a sixteenth of an inch on the outside to a hairline toward the center.
The crack is about a half inch away from one of the three bolts holding it on.
My question is how common is this? What would cause it other than a poorly manufactured flywheel to start with?
Of course I know I need to replace it regardless of what caused it, so this is an academic questuion. I'm just trying to understand the whole deal a little better.
Thanks as usual! Tony
