Default 99 C5 tranny problem

The car has heads/cam/yank3600 stall 400rwhp
the car has 44000 miles, 6k on the set up above. Driving the car, i nail it at 40mph, tranny just revs to red line like it is in N, at the light, i take off very slow and the car revs to 5k before it shifts 1-2. the rest of shifts seem to be ok for the time being. what do you guys think? i drove the car home 10 miles after all this happened no porblem except no matter how slow i take off at the light, it feels like the 1-2 shift wont happen untill over 5k rpm, and nailing it from a roll is a waste of time, just bounces off the limiter.
Thanks for any input.

Prob a blown trans, hope you ran a cooler... I have had this happen before, even on expensive "hi-po" rebuilds. But you describe a classic slipping situation.

nope, no cooler, but on the next tranny i will def. have it. They want $2200
to beef it up and put it back in. could this be fixed without getting into the gears and deep into the tranny?
