99 Z28 catalytic converter question If I have the catalytic converter removed and just weld a straight pipe in it's place...will that free up any power? And will it throw any check engine lights on? Thanks.

the rear o2 sensors will throw a code, but they have no affect on performance of the engine. it's just the light.
probably only see 2-3hp from the cat delete.
