Default First Mod, exhaust? or..

Hey everyone,
My 2002 ws6 ( m6 ) is pretty much bone stock. it has subframe connectors and a k&n filter, other than that, its stock. I was wondering what a great first mod would be. I really want an exhaust, i like the car's sound as it is, but i'd love a new catback. What catback would you all recommend. I HATE drone, and i dont like rediculously loud exhaust, but under throttle i'd like it to scream.
Or, do you think theres a better mod to do?

by the way, the car has 35,000 miles on it.

a magnaflow or a hooker are great catbacks that are quiet when cruising but are aggressive sounding under acceleration

You could do Borla, it's a high performance catback, sounds great.. possibly a little on the raspy side though. I like it though.

im liking the sounds of the magnaflow and the hooker, ive been listening to them on the internet just now, but the hooker is alot cheaper haha.

I just cant find a video that has the car driving with the exhaust, its all just revving.

Hmm..
I really just want it to scream like nothin else when i floor it, but in a good way.

That is a perfect idea, here is a clip of my friends exhaust, I believe it's stock catback, but cammed... with a QTP cutout.

Specs are
QTP RACE HEADERS
QTP 3 inch OFF ROAD Y-Pipe with magnaflow cats welded in
McCord 3" Electric cutout, Cammed of course
And Stock catback.

^^ what he said is a good idea! Although I just got ride of my cutout or well actually its for sale. Mine rattled and just wasnt very good. I would go with a magnaflow catback and a slp lid for your first mods. Your gonna wanna get louder and faster as time goes on. I would actully go with Pacesetter headers, pasesetter ory(off road y-pip) electric cutout so you don't have to get under the car and take the plate off, magnaflow catback, and a lid. That will run you 1100+/-. You will LOVE it!!

i think you should get a new lid, and do the free air mod too. P&P your TB. Then do the entire exhaust at one time.

thanks for the video man, his car is awesome.
I was thinking of having my machinest do my throttle body too, but i wasnt sure if that was worth it either. i hear alot of things that people do are actually worthless, so im always skeptical.

not bad, but before I spent money on a tune, I'd get headers.

Exactly like I did but I ditched the AIR pump too and instead of a cutout I did a LM1 to tide me over untill I do LT's and TD's. BTW, to the OP, the lid is not worthless. It's worth maybe 10hp, and looks better.

For the record...VERY FEW things are worthless on these cars from a performance standpoint. Most will agree Lid, Cat-Back, LongTube Headers are all "must have" items. There are a handful of questionable items to stay away from such as throttle body spacers, aftermarket MAFs, shorty headers...to name a few. But definately you are in the right direction with a cat-back...just dont forget to do the Longtubes later.
