Making my own intake system?
I have been pondering the idea of making a custom intake to replace my lid for awhile now. I never really liked the way the lid always hit the hood. I work at a place where I have access to pretty much any size SS piping and welding. I was thinking of doing a split double filter system. Kind of like the corvettes and place it where the lid is now. Do you thing that there will be any downside to this? What besides the piping, filters, and radiator cover do i need?

i did somewhat the same thing on my ls1 camaro and the outcome was about 30-40 degree in increased air temps over the stock style lid. if your not doing your own tuning like i do the increased air temps equals lower timing in your iat tables.
here are some shots of how i had it..
this is the better way to go decreased temps alot!!!

thats cool it was a pic before i changed to differant radiator delete kit and routing of the nitrous lines etc. just letting him know it will look good but hes better to stick to the what he has or it just gonna suck hot air and pull timing and kill hp for what its worth.

Well i have been thinking and If I put two down to teh wheel well the IAT would be much less. and it really wont cost me that much I can buy the piping for cost. Once again this is not set in stone im just trying to get ideas and see If it would work.

Just seems like you're not really going to gain much, but you never know unless you try. For myself though, the lid is the best, it pulls cool air and works well, I dont have the hitting hood issue.
