Default LQ4 Block LS1 Camaro Accessories

So I ran into this little problem in my LQ4 build! I am using stock LS1 Camaro brackets and I stumbled across this boss on the block that is blank on the drivers side for the alternator! Has anyone drilled this out to run the camaro brackets!

Yeah you can drill and tap it. I'm running without the bolt there and no problems.

I drilled it out and Tapped it.. If I'm not mistaken, even after you do that you are still one Bolt short, the LS1 has one more Bolt that goes in the center of that Bracket that bolts to the Block.

Yeah I was wondering where that last bolt would go! I guess I will just have to run it with the front two bolts and the rear ear bolt! I am thinking that should hold up just fine! Thanks for the info!

A simple search would have answered this question. A lot of 370/408 build's have asked this question over the years. Yes you can drill it as it is very easy, or not.

So your just running two bolts the ear on the back and the one up front? You must not work on cars all day! I am going to drill that out! I dont need that thing walking around on me! To each his own! They put that hole there for a reason on the LS blocks!

drill the hole. the one that goes through the center is just to hold the bracket in place while the alt is removed. It is real easy to do with the ps removed

Engine is on the stand! I just got the bolts today and I should have a new Alternator tomorrow morning! I think I got it from here! I just dont see why people would want to run it with only one bolt up front and one in the rear!

Drill the one hole, and ignore the missing hole. The missing one is one of 3 bolt hole sthat hold a procharger onto the motor. Many a iron motor with prochargers making stupid power with that bolt hole not used. Not a single one has broken anything yet. If your running just accessories you have WAY less to worry about then a heavy, horsepower sucking blower hanging off the block.

I heave heard you CAN drill that last hole if your very careful about depth. I say leave it though.
