Default Ls1 block to l92

I have searched but i couldn't find anyone who just swapped blocks and not the heads. The car is a 2001 trans am and were going to do a 418 aluminum 6.2 based block with ls1 based afr 205 heads fast intake. What covers sensors wont transfer over if i am just basically doing a short block. The engine will have a 24x crank wheel so that's taken care of. Thanks for any help.

from memomry the valley cover will need to be the l92 one and the knock sensors off the ls1 cant be used and u will need a loom for the length as the knock stuff is on the side of the blocks-

also the cam sensor will be at the front -so extend that loom too-

i presume u are using the ls1 intake?

if u are not then u will have to extend the map loom towards the front of the car as the map sensor is near the t/b on the later style gm intakes-

hope that helps-

was also wondering the same thing. Heads for an LS1 should bolt right up am I correct? And what sponsors have the conversion kit needed for the swap? (just the L92 block, not the whole motor)

We offer a coversion kit for the swap. It will come with the LS2 timing set, (for 24x cam signal), LS3 Valley Cover, LS3 Front Cover w/ Cam Sensor, LS2 Lifter Trays, and Cam Sensor/Knock Sensor Extension Harness. It should have everything you need to convert your LS1 based vehicle to use a LS-2/3 engine. The rest of the parts are interchangeable between all LS based engines. Let me know if you have any questions!

so can an LS1 style head (for example afr205) bolt right up to an L92 block? or do you need different heads?

The heads will bolt onto the block without issue.
