Default Cam in A4 with stock stall???

I'm thinking a cam is my next mod. I have an A4, and changing the convertor is out of the question. What are some good cams that maintain good drivability on the stock stall?

do a search man.... something smaller than like a 222... but i would not recommend any cam without a stall.. you would see more gains from a stall than a cam...

any reason stall is out of the question

I ran a TR224 on the stock stall with no problems. But like others have said you will gain more from a stall converter.

you can retain good driveability on a stalled car just get a good torque converter

I have a comp230/224 on a stock stall...its ok, but pulls through the brakes and car tries moves at idle unless you brake

I would not recommend it, it's annoying

Comp Cams says this will work. LS6 Street Replacement Cam 212/218.......565/565...
115 LSA. Supposed to work with stock converter, no tuning required.

yes it will work.. but it is not recommended.. stock cam will perform better with a stall.. so common sense tells you a larger cam than stock will work even better with a stall

Why is it out of the question? I ran a cam in mine with a stall for 2 days and it sucked to drive. I will never do that again.

are u running a trans cooler besides the factory one? i ran my TCI 3500 for week without a cooler because i was waiting for parts and it was perfectly fine. Now i have a B&M supercooler (20,500) in addition to the stock cooler, and everything seems to be running a ok. There are thousands of people on this site running stalls, any other reason it seems to be overheating?

I'm going to be using a 233 cam after I get my baby back from my boy's shop. ...Funny thing is that I'm on a stock stall for a bit till I can get a few more bucks together to throw in the Yank SS3600. .. Driving her till that time is gonna SUCK!

try a transmission cooler..

i have a 4000 vig stall... and i drive my car about 50-70 miles a day...

only time it over heats is if i do 4-5 track passes back to back with only about 3-4 minutes in the staging lanes...

OP... why is a stall out of the questions..

Cam + no stall = sucks

Plus, your car will most likely be slower than it was stock.

I highly recommend a stall before a cam. A good tranny cooler will keep overheating down. I use the Hayden RapidCool and love it.

well if you have other bolt on like exhaust and dead set on no stall .Here is my experience on what i have seen first hand.Good friend of mine runs a cam along these lines
228/228, .588"/.588" May be a 224 224 on stock stall drives fine ran 12.4-12.5

Just something to think on .Another friend of mine has
Lt headers
Xpipe
Gears 4.10
4000 stall
Et streets and runs 12.07 in the 1/4 with stock cam, intake .
