Default ticking noise

How loud is the ticky noise you get when you bend a pushrod? I have a really mild kind of ticky noise coming from my motor. I kinda have to put my ear on the intake to hear it, but its there. Is this normal, or do you have to really listen for the ticky noise to diagnose a bent pushrod?

If its a pushrod youll hear it w/o having to put your ear up to it. It could just be your injectors pulsing

I can hear a ticking of some type (i've just started calling it valvetrain noise) inside my car while it is ideling, but the car runs fine, and doesn't throw any codes, so i just ignore it. From what i understand it is normal for our cars.

Also, my engine seems a little out of balance from about 1400 to 1800 rpm. Im not sure what it is, I guess all i can do is pull the valve covers and check them. I dont really think anything is wrong, im just kinda bein careful i guess.

Most likely if you put your ear up to the intake to hear it, it will be an injector pulsing. Exhaust leak would come from sides of motor and the valvetrain noise would be louder.

On a side note, if you use a piece of garden hose or some similar hose, you can point it around while holding the other end to your ear and pinpoint where the noise is coming from.
