What cam? 243 heads, .600" springs; help please.
I've been researching for awhile and I think I'm getting information OVERLOAD. I've read the cam guide, faq's ect. and I've searched through discussions. There's so much knowledge on this site I'm having trouble coming to a decision.
* I have LS2 243 heads, pac springs (1.290" Diameter, 130# at 1.800", 318# at 1.200", .600" Lift Capable), lt's, ory
* I PLAN on adding LS2 timing set, LS6 oil pump when doing cam swap
* Car will see little track time and on street tires. (10 runs/year?)
* I want SOME "driveability"; I drive it about 1/2 the time (nice days and weekends)
* I'm on a budget
So, like everyone, I want the most power I can get at the lowest cost and maintenance. While researching and searching I was planning on getting the Torquer 2 232/234, .595"/.598" 112LSA OR FM14 232"/234", .598"/.598" 112LSA. Now I'm unsure. I know these are big cams and I can sacrifice a little driveability for more power, but now I'm wondering if the .598" lift is too much for my goals...
Can any of you PROS tell me what specific cam you would get if you were in my shoes? I want the most bang for my buck, but I don't want my car in the garage every other weekend either. I don't want to have to buy new pushrods, lifters, retainers, springs immediately.
I'm asking to take advantage of your knowledge so I don't have to regret a decision. Thanks.

Well both of those are great cams and you'll like them, but, they are realllly close to the tolerances of the springs you have and i wouldnt feel comfortable running those cams with springs only rated at .600 but thats just me. You will need hardened pushrods regardless. You shouldnt have too many maintenance issues once the cam is in if you do everything right while your in there. The only problem i could see you having, is if you get one of those cams, is breaking those springs and that would lead to some major damage.. So either go down to a 228R or upgrade the springs. just my .02 though

We've had great luck running the Torquer V2 with the 918 spring kit. You should see solid 50rwhp gains from the T v2 install!

228r is another texas speed cam with these specs: 228/228 .588/.588 (I think)
I have torquer V2 and I love it. (also 243 heads)
you will see great power mid range power band as well while still having great drivability(tuned of course)
I would suggest you upgrade your springs to 918 springs though.
and if you need some hardened pushrods, i have some for sale with 40 miles on it.

The Torquer 2 has been installed tons of times with the PAC single spring. I think you'll have a great combo!!
