This is a very basic answer to a very involved question. Traditionally, higher durations and higher numerical LSA's will bring power higher in the RPM band, while lower durations (220 or so) and lower numerical LSA's will bring power down lower in the range. Now, will you lose power down low with the 224/224? Not really but it may not have as much down low as quickly as a different cam would. Cams are truly a compromise as there really is no "end-all-be-all" cam. The 224 will get you the power, but it will really shine above 4K. I am running a 222/222 with a 112 and that pig is still pulling at redline. A 114 LSA is a good choice for an A4 car, too. Do your homework and ask some of the cam gurus here. I'm sure some will chime in on this post anyway. Good luck!

Jabroni explained it pretty well. the tr224 is a good mid range top end cam, as is my tr230 cam. but you'll notice even with these mid range/top end cams that there is still plenty of power down low. alot of dyno's i've seen show 300rwtq@2.5k and 350rwtq@3k-6k. the main difference with the big cams is they keep pulling all the way to 6800

if your car is just a basic daily and your concerned about low end go with the 220-224 range.

That was covered very well. The stall converter plays a big role also. The cam and converter need to compliment each other so plan ahead if you don't have a stall yet. My C1 does quite well also. Could I make more power with a different cam? Probably, but how much and will I gain a signifigant amount over the C1? Not likely. There are a lot of options out there. Pick a proven combination and you can't go wrong. Good luck!

I ran a TR220 with a 112 LSA for about a year and it really impressed me with the amount of torque it made a low engine speeds. That is a great little cam.

Getting the cam and converter is fine, just don't get a 2500 Stall with a pig cam. They need to be proven so the car stays in the cams power band. this ensures that you get the most from your available power. I got extremely lucky with my combo. Several other board members here use this same set up and I have heard nothing but positive results. Traction is the biggest issue. IMHO the Yank converters are the best money can buy. Good luck!
