is it 408ci or? need help
hi
i´m from iceland
i´ve got Z06 2004, whith a little damadged crank, and block, all fixable, but i´m not trusting this things any more, had before damadge on two pistons they slammed upto valves, so i´m now in 2nd time opening the motor the cause of damadged now on the crank and block , was piston bolt got loose and so on .....
just wante new stuff. (bigger.....)
I had dynotest of the (346) motor 424rwhp at 6500rpm , it is ls6 whith TFS215cc and Comp cam 281/283 232/234 .595/.598 112 LS, very high lift in that motor, made trap time 123.6mph the 1/4 mile
and then harland-sharp 1-7, MSD, Mt1 ramair, kooks headers, no cats, ls6 throttlebody and ls6 intake manifold, spec 3 clutch (hurst shift)
not sure the numbers on the injectors (but they are not orginal, it´s often rich of fuel, never lean)
so i´m looking for the best small block stroker, that i could buy and use whith my other stuff. and then in the future will do mods(bigger fast, bigger cam and maby no2), i´m both driving and racing.would like it hard core....
have been looking at 408, and 416, 418.
what do you think, ?
need good performance result but... low budged , and use-able whith my other stuff for now...,
and need fast deliverie whith fast shipping to iceland

408's can be produced for cheap, and 402's also i believe. Some one correct me if im wrong but as far as a 408 si concerned everything should bolt right up as if it were a 346.

If you are going to upgrade, you should really get a new cam as well. You are talking about adding at least 50 cubes, and your cam would not maximize the output of a larger engine. It would work, but if you are spending $4k or so on a new short block, might as well drop the $300 for a custom spec'd cam. TFS heads flow pretty good, so you could throw them on a 418 LS3 or a 440 LS7 short block and you would make awesome power. Just get an appropriate cam and you will make 500rwhp+ even with those heads. Then swap the heads later for 600rwhp since you could fit bigger valves witht he larger bore of the ls3/ls7

if i would take the 418 and new cam, would the ls6 throttle body and intake manifold slow it much down, the budged is not so much now, but i´m thinking about futures mods....
maby take a short block, use the stuff, and then in future bigger fast and throttleb. and bigger cam

yes ok, but what about 402, the cam would it not maximize the output on 402 or?

i think what he was saying that your cam WILL work in the 408 or 402 or any Gen 3 engine. BUT you will not get the amount of horsepower you could be getting because your current cam is designed to feed a 346, but a larger engine can use a bigger cam. after saying all that, all your current parts will bolt right onto a 402 or 408 or even a 427 Gen 3 engine and work fine. So you can use your cam and your intake for the time being but in future to extract max performance out of your investment you should upgrade to a bigger cam and a higher flowing intake.
is 408 only made iron block?
If i take for example 402 ls2 from TX speed. and new cam istalled, can i not use te orginal intake and throttleb. ls6, and take for example a 470-490 rwhp
