Need to know when first C5R engines were..
built and when they became available as a built short block or long block to the public through performance shops. Didn't GMMG build C5R engines as early as mid 2002? Which mfgs. built pistons for the early C5Rs?? thanks

Thanks, that's good info. Who were the first guys to build street 427s and when? I know C5R blocks were available from GM in at least early '02 and maybe sooner.

First GM race LS engines were 366 (6.0L), but they needed more grunt because the were forced to run two small restrictors. The enlarged the engine to 427 (7.0L), and even with smaller restrictors and a lower max rpm it made more torque and power in the operating range and was faster in the car. I think power peak was 620 fwhp around 5500 rpm.
