Edlebrock Cam w/No Tuning? 430HP?
I apologize if this is repeat of any previous threads. I found nothing when I did my searchs.
Anyways...has anyone installed Edlebrock's Camshaft PN 2218? Here is a link to the part in question: http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_...lvetrain.shtml
I'm curious if its claims are true. 433HP. 421 Ft/Lbs. No tuning required.
Also with a LSA of 118*, would PTV clearance need to be checked during installation?

I don't doubt their claims, dependent on car base tune and parts fitted as usual.
But always more benefit with a good tune.

I found the Trick Flow Packages.

You're right. That looks like a sweet way to go to make some serious power. The notes at the bottom of the product page state that Trick Flow reccomends you have a 10.5:1 Comp Ratio. Stock LS1 is 10.19:1. Whats up with that?

I cannot believe that Edelbrock would even think of running "no tune needed" as an add.
What has marketing come down to anyways??
There are always a few fools that will believe

Well sarcasm actualy.
Tuning is preferable even on a stock car right down to the paper filter. You would have to see a stock tune to understand.
Running a cammed car without a tune is one of my pep-peevs. I never could understand that.
I'm sure the cam is a good little cam, but I would certainly tune it for best results.

The cam is made so its not such a change the ecu can't compensate for it.
Even a stock car can benefit from a peformance tune vs OEM factory tune.
It a good little cam for someone who is just getting their feet wet and are looking for mild gains so they dont have to spend more money on a whole bunch of other stuff that comes along with more powerful cams.
