Comp Lifters

Comp Lifters
I've already bought my pushrods for my cam/243 head swap. My question is, are the comp cam lifters the same as STOCK ls1 lifters? I know the LS7 lifters need shorter pushrods due to the cups sitting higher in the lifter. I don't want to buy different pushrods....

First off what type of engine (LS1,LS2,) second what type of application are you using it in. Third how precise are you looking to be. I ended going with the Magnum Comp R lifter which tolerance level is a lot tighter at the tip of the rod than the Comp's and I ended having to go with a shorter rod. It all depends on the application and what your trying to accomplish and how tight you want your heads running. I spend a fair amount on them and stayed with the stock rockers because they are dam good and reliable, and this will elongate the life of the rockers in the long run. I have 241's flowing 305 @ 600. Also what cam size are you running that will also dictate the what type of lifter you want to use. I am running a 232/238 600/600 109LSA costume for an automatic.

Ok a mild cam also so I can gather your going to do some type of forced induction go with the lifters that are going to give you less play at the tip (where the rod meets the rocker) of the rod. What that will do is give you a tight fit, remember the rod is the weakest link. I would also go with the Comp rods they are tested and true. If your going to force induct the engine go with the Patriot Extreme Gold springs great double spring, are you doing over sized valves or not. Now the 243 heads with a good port and polish job can flow 335cfm's@600 and if your going to spray, you can mill the heads and run an 11.5 to 1 compression and use up to a 150 shot safely. is the bottom end stock?

I was thinkin it was Pred's cam, I plan on doing the same install and am goin with the LS7s. 243s and all.... man when it is goin in? Post up some numbers when its done, gonna be some good torque there

Ok that makes it easy for me
Get Comp 850-16, those will be fine. Just clean them with mineral spirit when you get them and then soak them 2>3 hours prior to install in oil. Get a new set of lifter guides, it is a cheap insurance.

Hopefully by July the 4th weekend. I've got a ton of changes that need to be done. I've got a Mcleod RST twin, stage 2 rebuild kit from Tick, Tick master, new gm slave, 85mm maf, ect, ect... Still need the lifters, head gaskets, and new 90 mm Fast Toys lid. Hope it makes good power.... Made 353/369 with bolt on's.
