Exclamation LS1 Lifter Ticking....

Hello everyone, i drive a 2002 chevy camaro z28,

this vehicle was used by policy (highway patrol) in California.

when i got it, i had to get a transmission rebuild, new engine mounts, new transmission mounts, etc...

Anyways the one thing that i did not replace is the engine, When i 1st changed the oil it had a regular non synthetic oil in it.

After couple of months, i used full synthetic in the engine.

Last oil change, lifter started ticking on both sides...

my friend told me to add a bottle of transmission fluid to engine oil 100 miles before the oil change. As soon as i added that bottle of transmission fluid BAM lifter stopped ticking for 100 miles. In 100 miles i change the oil, added full synthetic and the lifter is ticking again.

is it big of a problem? do i have to fix it? Should i just wait for it to brake and the get it rebuild?

Let me know.

(does anyone know who can rebuild it for low amount?

how bad is the lifter noise? mine has always had a little lifter clatter on a cold start ever since i bought it (12k miles ago). no problems yet. I'm in the process of doing a h/c/i swap though, with new ls7 lifters

I ran tranny fluid a good 250 miles right when I got mine. All the ticking noises went away. Try it again next change. Don't leave it in to long tho. I thought it sounded insane first time I heard about it, but it worked. I wouldn't worry that it wasn't synthetic oil before as long as it was done regularly is the important thing. Course LS7 lifters never a bad idea +1 on that!
