TR 230 Split Pattern...Thoughts?
I am trying to maintain a well mannered street car with heads and cam. I am getting the AFR 205's with 62cc. My question is, do you think Thunder Racing's TR 230,236 .592 .602 @112 lsa is a bit much for a good mannered street cam? I am trying to stay away from cams that buck and surge and stall etc. I have LG longtube headers 1 3/4 with ORX and Borla stingers with Vararam intake. Should I step down the duration with the cam? I definitley will NOT go bigger than a 230 236. Car is practically daily driven. Thoughts???

EDIT: oops thought u meant the reverse split version, but I wouldn't expect that one to be any worse to tune to behave well on the street END EDIT
you won't know its there until you listen or nail the throttle
mine is basically the same thing just on different lobes and even with a stock stall I get no surging as low as 1k rpms, get 25mpg highway, and it will idle as low as 650

Hey bro,
Im in tampa to. I like that cam. I wanted to go with that or the 231-237, but I went with the 228R. Go with the 230 and dont look back. take it to percision motorsports in odessa for a quality tune and dont look back !

I ran a 230/236 114+2 cam with 64cc afr 205s. lid, 1-3/4" longtubes, x-pipe w/ resonators, ud pulley and an ls6 intake. I was only able to get 415/400 prior to upgrading injectors. It liked fuel. went 117mph in the quarter. never took it to the track after doing injectors. post injectors and a re-tune the car made 452/424. Mine was kind of lazy after the 3-4 shift, but you may not have that problem with the gearing in a z06.
Car drove absolutely fine on the street and the idle was pretty calm, just loud due to the exhaust.

I have the tr230-236 in my 99 formula, great power band, nice choppy idle, very streetable with m6 car. It does want to surge just a little at low rpm, light load under 1500.overall seems like a very good cam.my car made 384 running out of fuel at top end, with stock heads and a 12 bolt.please keep me up to date if you get those afr heads with this cam. I would love to get my hands on a set of afr or trickflow heads but it is not in the budget right now.
