Default Valvetrain noise--loud!

Just got my forged 348 fired up for the first time last night. Couldn't run it for more than 90 secs at a time beacause I didn't want to damage anything. I am getting a really loud clacking noise from the valvetrain. Oil pressure is good. I set the comp 1.75s at. 1 3/4 turns. Is this too loose? Does it take a few min for new lifters to pump up?

Here's what I got:
Ms3, new ls7 litters, hardened pr's, cc 1.75 adj, dual valve springs

TIA

Not sure where you wipe is, but with 1-3/4 turns from zero lash if you have stud mounted rockers with 24 threads per inch, you have about 0.115" of lifter preload (very high).

i did a new set of lifters earlier this year and it took about 5 miles for them to stop clacking and it was really loud!

Does no one pre soak their lifters anymore? Have you checked for an exhaust leak at the header flange they can sound like all kinds of things from valvetrain to a rod knock. That is where I would start

i soaked my lifters for 3 days lol, every set of the re assembly i would add oil. poured oil on my installed lifters in the pushrods after fully dipping both ends then in the top of my heads and on my roller rockers. I figure i have to put 5.5 quarts in the motor regardless.

you are supposed to do 3/4 of a turn after you get them to zero lash

I actually followed some posts in here regarding Vinci's/cranes instructions for lsx lash-2 full turns.

Guys at TSP advisede the LS7 litters reguire more preload-(.100-.120)
This preload set my roller tip a bit behind centerline w/ 7.250 pr's (shaved 5.3's)

I actually did soak my lifters but it been about a week between install and fire up. I did add the oil over the rocker down the pr's etc.

Default Sounds Better

Thanks for all the help.

WYATT318MOPAR: Yeah, I used copper Gaskets and turns out I needed to re-torque them a couple more times.

Just got the car tuned and its running a lot better, still have some valvetrain noise, but from, reading the boards this may be normal.

I've got some bucking down low in the rpm's (under 2k) but the tuner says he can fix that now that I replaced the o2's

We've seen them setup as high as .10x" from the factory, but we recommend closer to .040-.060" for the average combo around here.
