Default ASA Hotcam

I was curious as to who is running the ASA hotcam? I have SLP LT's on my car and was considring this cam for stock heads. Anyoen have dyno #'s or track times for ASA Hotcam with stock heads? I am considring 4/10's and a new clutch to work with the setup. Also since its a 110 lsa, do I need to add a vacum canister in a M6 or is that for autos only?

Thanks

Why exactly would you like to run the ASA? The low lift values for spring life? Many higher lift big cams out there right now offer much stouter performance than the ASA.

The asa and the hot cam are 2 diffrent cams

the GM Hot Cam 219/228 dur @ 0.050 and 0.525/0.525 lift
GM ASA camshaft 226/236 dur @ 0.050 and 0.525/0.525

In Sun's defense, I've actually seen the ASA referred to as the ASA Hotcam before. Thanks for the specs though.

I've got it in my SS. It still isn't tuned though so I don't know what the actual performance will be. I like it.

I was looking for a traditional split cam, with a lot of overlap and liked that 110 LSA which sounds wicked. And I have heard that people with the asa cam, SLP LT's, gears and clutch have taken cars into the 11's. I am not sure if its true but thats what I have heard. I wanted to know what HP #'s are being made and track times

It's a good cam WITH A TUNE. Untuned it gives a wild idle and ok performance. With a good tune and good exhaust, it makes one of the best TQ curves I have ever seen on any 346 LS1...

LS1 GM Hot Cam specs are the same as the LT1 Specs??????????????????? Something doesn't look right. Those are LT1 Specs. Is he asking about an LS1 Cam or a LT1 Cam?

Lobe Separation: 112°

The "all new" GM Performance HOT Cam Kit for 1997-2003 LS1 engines.

Yup! Same specs as LT1.

Yeah some people argue it's not the best cam for an LS1 since it was developed for the LT1. There are enough people using it to prove it works though.

I saw an interview with some engineers at GM that had a hand in designing the the LS1 for the '97 Corvette. The engineers admitted the cam they put in the LS1 was much more conservative than it could have been. They were then asked how well it would work to swap in the GM ASA cam. The answer was, with the stock exhaust you would only gain 5 hp because cams with a lot of overlap (like the ASA) really need almost zero backpresure to work properly.

Yeah I am talking about the LS1 not the LT1. I am referring to the ASA cam which is 226/236 110lsa and .525/.525 lift. I thought it was called the ASA Hotcam, but either way lets just say ASA cam. #'s and performacnce, as I am considring it. I have the SLP LT headers, with ORP and a Random Tech exhaust which is almost zero backpressure ;-) So how woul dit work with a good tune?
