The search function is going to provide a lot more info for you than the replies you'll get. This subject is beaten to death on a daily basis so much, that the threads are getting fewer and fewer replies. Do some research with search, and read the heads/cam stickies up at the top. You'll find all the info you need.
And BTW, breaking your paragraph up into several sentences instead of one, will make it easier to answer your questions.
Moving to internal for you.

there are a ton of combos that work. The best place to look is in the dyno section. Do a search either for the heads you want or the cam and check out the graph for the setup.
Like said above a 4000 stall is going to affect your gas mileage pretty bad so if your going to daily that car you might want to get something between 2800 and 3800 with 3800 still being on the high side.
I would say get what heads you like then spend the extra couple bucks and get a cam spec'd to your specific setup.

Checkout our new camshafts, we have plenty of camshafts that will drive awesome & make good across the board power. I'd checkout the new TSP 228 camshaft with .620" lift. We also are finishing up a camshaft with a little bit of split using the new TSP 228 lobe. Give us a call, I bet we can sell you a dyno tested camshaft with your combo & save you some money!!!
